Josh Oberman, Andrea Lawrence Join as Partners

Windels Marx is pleased to announce the arrival of two Partners in the New York, NY office. Each brings with them extensive real estate, construction and related litigation and transactional experience. 

Joshua G. Oberman - Josh represents contractors, developers, and high net-worth homeowners – including some of the region’s largest trade contractors and developers – and also works with a client’s CPA and insurance/surety professionals to ensure to ensure a 360 degree approach to their needs. Josh has deep experience in private and public construction matters, including negotiating and litigating Access Agreements under New York Real Property Law 881, and he routinely litigates cases through trial when necessary. Josh’s practice includes commercial disputes, litigation with sureties, union negotiations and conflicts, and insolvency. Josh also ensures that his clients achieve the right corporate structure, and assists with implementing asset preservation strategies in a T&E context. Josh received his JD from Emory School of Law and his BA from Dartmouth College. He is admitted to practice in New York.

Andrea J. Lawrence - Andrea represents developers, owners, general contractors and other clients in all areas of real estate and construction, including: acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, construction agreements, risk management and dispute resolution through ADR or litigation. Of note is Andrea’s role for nearly a decade as Deputy CEO and General Counsel at an international real estate investment and development company, where she advised executive management and the board of directors on a range of real estate and construction matters relating to its extensive portfolio of residential and commercial real estate. Andrea oversaw all legal aspects of ground-up development projects, with an emphasis on acquisitions, sales, leasing, financing, property management, construction and related agreements, risk management and mitigation, and litigation and dispute resolution. Andrea received her JD from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and her BA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is admitted in New York, New Jersey, EDNY and SDNY.
