Daily Journal Names Top IP Lawyers for 2025 – Ellie Steiner Recognized

Ellie Steiner, Counsel, has been named a 2025 Top IP Lawyer by the Daily Journal (subscription required). She was also recognized in 2024.

Ellie is a seasoned lawyer specializing in patent litigation. She has been litigating high-stakes intellectual property disputes for over 20 years with a particular focus on district court litigation and Federal Circuit appeals. Ellie also works on matters before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and the International Trade Commission (ITC). She has a broad range of experience, representing clients in matters related to biologic and small-molecule drugs, medical devices, drug delivery systems, software, and semiconductors.

Ellie leads litigation teams in all aspects of complex patent litigation, including pre-litigation strategy, pre-trial and expert discovery, trial, and appeals. She is instrumental in formulating case strategy, preparing briefs, handling oral argument and Markman proceedings, and examining witnesses at trial. Ellie has led teams in obtaining favorable judgments and settlements in district courts and inter partes review proceedings.

In addition to patent litigation, Ellie counsels clients on a wide range of intellectual property licensing issues, including drafting and negotiating patent licenses. She frequently works with life science clients to create strategies based on her extensive knowledge of the regulatory landscape. Ellie has also litigated a number of trademark and copyright cases.

In addition to her Daily Journal recognition, she has also been noted as one of the best performing ANDA attorneys representing defendants in Patexia's ANDA Litigation Intelligence Report. Ellie joined Windels Marx in March 2025.
