Anthony Sirianni Leads Rutgers Law Appellate Advocacy Team to Finals of ABA Brooklyn Regional Competition
Please join us in congratulating Anthony Sirianni (Associate, Madison Office) as Coach of the Rutgers Law Appellate Advocacy Team, which advanced to the finals of the ABA Brooklyn Regional Appellate Advocacy Competition, in addition to being recognized for writing the fifth-best brief out of more than 30 in the competition.
The team was one of 8 finalists in a field of more than 30 schools. They were evaluated on their written brief, a U.S. Supreme Court brief, and on their performances in five rounds of oral arguments against different teams and different panels of judges. This year's problem involved an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court on the propriety of the controversial practice of snap removal (whereby forum defendants remove cases before proper service) and whether internet service providers enjoyed immunity from state intellectual-property torts under § 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA).
While at Rutgers Law, Anthony was the winner of the ABA Boston Regional Appellate Advocacy Competition. In addition, he earned second place in the Anthony David Cohn Appellate Advocacy Competition and was top 16 of 178 teams at the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition.
