Pat Russo Discusses Taxi App "Model Regulations" on New York City Radio Show
On October 5, 2013, Pat Russo appeared on the "La Voz Del Volante Radio Show" on Radio WADO, 1280 AM to provide legal commentary and analysis on the "Model Regulations: Smartphone Application Technology for Taxicabs and Limousines," which were prepared by Windels Marx as pro bono counsel to the International Association of Transportation Regulators (IATR) and released at the IATR annual conference held in St. Louis, Missouri on September 23-25, 2013.
The impetus for the Model Regulations began last year when Windels Marx issued its Rogue Apps Report, after which Matt Daus, IATR President, empanelled a Smartphone Apps Committee consisting of numerous regulators from around the world in June 2012 and subsequently held an international public hearing in November 2012 to elicit testimony from regulators and industry stakeholders. The final Model Regulations include definitions and rules that reflect best practices and provide clear distinctions for regulators to review and select as they deal with the advance of the regulatory challenges from apps technology.
