Friday, November 16, 2012
The November 15th edition of The Wall Street Journal quoted Matt Daus (Partner, New York) in an article entitled "Cities Move to Rein In Smartphone Taxi Services".
The article cites Matt's taxi app regulation proposals, which he recently published in a report entitled "Proposed Model Regulations for Smartphone Applications in the For-Hire Industry". Matt, President of the International Association of Transportation Regulators, is quoted as saying:
- "The regulators really resent being branded as cronies and antitechnology. It couldn't be further from the truth. But they have to do their job and make sure it's safe, customers aren't being ripped off, and people aren't being hurt."
Matt also penned a July 2012 report entitled "Rogue" Smartphone Applications for Taxicabs and Limousines: Innovation or Unfair Competition? - A National Regulatory Review of Safety, Accountability and Consumer Protection Legal Issues.
