Experience

Juan Pablo maintains a multi-disciplined practice that incorporates bankruptcy, litigation and trademark matters. He is a member of the team that represents the SIPA and Chapter 7 trustees overseeing the liquidation and asset recovery proceedings of the consolidated estates of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC and Bernard L. Madoff.

His bankruptcy experience encompasses proceedings under the Bankruptcy Code in connection with Rule 2004 examinations, fraudulent transfers, reopening and conversion of a Chapter 11 case, substantive consolidation, claim setoff, turnover of property, and stay violation and relief. His bankruptcy matters also incorporate objections to early discharge of an individual Chapter 11 debtor, assumption and assignment of leases, and representing a Chapter 7 Trustee in connection with asset liquidation, sale agreements, and collection of account receivables.

Juan Pablo has assisted in commercial litigation involving breach of contract claims, landlord and tenant actions, oppressed minority shareholder disputes, product liability, and cases involving breach of fiduciary duty.

He has also represented clients in trademark applications, trademark enforcement and brand protection matters. His work has included conducting trademark searches, preparing trademark opinion letters, filing U.S. trademark applications and renewals with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), assisting in the transfer of ownership of intellectual property, and responding to office action letters. 

Prior to Windels Marx, Juan Pablo practiced with a prominent New Jersey law firm. 

Juan Pablo is fluent in Spanish and has conversational fluency in Portuguese.
